Why Augie's Race Team?
The first (and fastest!) racer in the Alves family is Jeremy's grandpa Augie - who we called Pa. He is namesake and the originator of Augie's Race Team.
Pa raced flattrack back in the 70's and was excited to share the sport with his son and grandsons. Pa was a HUGE Nicky Hayden fan, and a fan of the entire Hayden racing family. The Hayden clan is known as Earl's Race Team named after their patriarch, so Pa started Augie's Race Team named after himself and his boys.
Nicky Hayden also had a nickname of the Kentucky Kid. Pa coined that phrase to his Cali Kid, Jeremy.
To this day you will see the Augie's Race Team logo on the side panel of Jeremy's kart, along with the nickname "The Cali Kid" used by Jeremy. It is in honor of his Pa who we lost in 2010.
