Jeremy Alves Battles Hard at Tulare Thunderbowl, Team Shows True Grit Through Adversity

TULARE, CA — March 27, 2026 — Local 305 sprint car driver Jeremy Alves returned to action Friday night at the Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway, taking on a competitive field of 14 cars in the California 305 Sprint Series. Despite a strong start to the evening, adversity struck in the heat race, showcasing both the dangers of the sport and the resilience of the Alves team.

Jeremy came out of the gate strong in hot laps, clocking in 2nd quick with a time of 15.998. Feeling confident in the car, the team made only minimal adjustments heading into qualifying. That confidence translated into another solid performance, as Jeremy went out 5th and secured a 4th-place qualifying effort with a quick time of 15.492.

Lining up inside row two for the BR Motorsports Heat Race #2, Jeremy was ready to put the high side of the Thunderbowl to the test. After an early jump start and ensuing yellow flag shuffled the lineup, Jeremy found himself on the pole for the restart.

When the green flag dropped, Jeremy charged hard into turn one. Believing he had cleared the car to his outside, contact was made with the rear of his car, sending him flipping into the wall in a violent incident that brought a sudden end to his night.

The car suffered significant damage, forcing the team to load up early and return to the shop. But what followed was a testament to the determination and pride of this group.

The crew worked deep into the night, staying until 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning tearing down the damaged car. Just a few hours later, Crew Chief Joey was back at the shop by 6:00 a.m., leading the charge to rebuild. Alongside Jacob, Devin, Dave, and Joel, the team pushed tirelessly to get Jeremy back on track for Saturday’s race. Additional support from dedicated sponsors and supporters further fueled the effort.

Despite their relentless work, time ultimately ran out. At approximately 2:30 p.m., the difficult but responsible decision was made to not compete, as the team did not feel the car was safe to return to competition. Fatigue also became a factor after the overnight rebuild effort, and the team chose safety above all else.

“Friday didn’t end how we wanted, but I’m incredibly proud of this team,” said Alves. “The effort they put in to try and get us back on track says everything about the kind of group we have.”

Jeremy and the team expressed their appreciation to everyone involved over the weekend — from the track crew to their own team, as well as family and friends — all of whom played a role in ensuring Jeremy’s safety.

Looking ahead, Alves is eager to bounce back as the team prepares for the upcoming race at Santa Maria Speedway this Saturday for their season opener.

“Santa Maria is always a great place to race,” Alves added. “The fans, crew, and facility are top notch. We’re looking forward to getting back out there.”

Jeremy Alves would like to thank his 2026 sponsors: Alves & Sons Diesel Repair, Hanford Auto Sales, Westscapes, VanEssen Motorsports, Pacific Towing, and series sponsor Quick Change Liquid Energy.
